A simple, beautifully made and charming medium format  viewfinder camera by one of the great German makes, Zeiss Ikon AG of Stuttgart. Although originally an entry level camera, the Nettar is considered a classic within the Zeiss Ikon range for its reliability, build quality and excellent design. First introduced in 1934, these folding cameras are among the most compact ever made for medium format photography, and are ideal cameras to teach the key photographic skills of depth of field scale focusing, and setting exposure either by "guesstimate" or hand-held exposure meter. 

The camera springs open at the press of a top plate mounted button, and produces twelve  6 x 6 cm negatives per roll film.  This example is a second generation Nettar II with the viewfinder optics built into the chrome top plate, unlike the earlier cameras which had a folding viewfinder on top of the camera body.

An example of a Zeiss Ikon Nettar in fine condition and full working order.  This camera would be equally at home in the display cabinet or out shooting rolls of film, although like any vintage camera, it is recommended that it is serviced for active use.
