Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra

The Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra (German: Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien) is the only radio orchestra in Austria. Founded in 1969, it was known as the ORF* Symphony Orchestra (German: ORF-Symphonieorchester) until 1996. Unlike most other Austrian orchestras, it has a substantial focus on contemporary classical music.

This mighty orchestral group specializes in music from the Romantic and Contemporary periods, playing symphonies with a vast, colorful palette and a grandiose sonic sweep. The musicians ably back vibrato-laden singers in their interpretations of modern Classical Vocal music.
