Halina cameras were produced in Hong Kong by W. Haking Enterprises Ltd, a company founded in the mid 1950s by Dr. Haking Wong and Dr. Pauline Chan. This company was responsible for a prolific output of binoculars and cameras sold under the Halina and Ansco brands, and continues to sell into the Middle East, Africa and the UK through Halina Imaging today. Earlier products, of which this is one, all had the words Empire Made stamped on them.

The Halina 300 is a mass market viewfinder camera for type No. 126 "Kodapak" cartridge film. Its construction is unusual in that the body is formed in thick plastic around which is an exo-skeleton of chromed metal covering top, bottom and sides, with the shutter release to the side of the metal lens tube. The lens is a Halinar Optical Glass Anastigmat, which focuses continuously from 3.5 feet to infinity. Exposure metering is catered for by a selenium meter linked to the blade shutter. The camera top plate has contacts to accept flash-cubes which are powered by two AAA batteries. The bottom cover is imprinted with the words "EMPIRE MADE".

A clean example of this rugged little camera from the "swinging 60s".  Untested as I don't have a 126 film cartridge, but everything appears to be in working order and cosmetically good. Film is still available on the internet.  A piece of social history perhaps? - or an inexpensive start for a budding camera collector.
