The album was recorded in London and produced by the late Chas Chandler. Chandler and Burdon shared a heritage dating back to the mid 60s when they both played in the hugely successful R&B band The Animals, with such memorable hits as "The House of the Rising Sun", "We Gotta Get Outa This Place" and "It's My Life". After the breakup of the original band in 1966, Chandler struck out on his own into management and other activities while Burdon formed the new band Eric Burdon and the Animals with a new lineup including Zoot Money who co-wrote many of the tracks in this album with Burdon.
